OET Preparation
Structured OET training built for pharmacists, doctors and nurses — expert tutors, realistic practice tests, and a personalised study plan that targets your weakest sub-tests first.
About OET
The Occupational English Test (OET) is an English language test for healthcare professionals. Unlike IELTS, every aspect of OET is designed around the medical and clinical environment — the listening tracks are real consultations, the reading texts are healthcare articles, and the writing task is a professional letter.
The GPhC, GMC and NMC all accept OET as proof of English proficiency for registration. The minimum required grade is B in all four sub-tests. Global Pathways specialises in helping healthcare professionals reach and exceed that threshold.
Who needs OET?
OET is accepted by the GPhC, GMC, NMC, and over 40 regulators worldwide.
40 minutes
Three parts — consultations, ward rounds, and lectures/seminars. Multiple choice and short answer.
Our tip
Practise medical terminology in audio form. Focus on spelling accurately in Part A.
60 minutes
Three parts — matching, choosing headings, and True/False/Not Given. Academic healthcare texts.
Our tip
Skim and scan effectively. Time management is critical — 42 questions in 60 minutes.
45 minutes
One professional letter based on case notes. Pharmacists and nurses write patient referrals; doctors write discharge letters.
Our tip
Format, register and accuracy matter as much as content. Practise converting bullet-point notes into professional prose.
20 minutes
Role-play with a trained interlocutor. Two consultations simulating real professional scenarios.
Our tip
Use appropriate clinical language. Demonstrate empathy, clarification and effective communication.
Score guide

How we help
We start with a diagnostic mock test across all four sub-tests to identify your weakest areas. Your study plan is built around those gaps — not a one-size-fits-all syllabus.
Our tutors have years of experience preparing healthcare professionals for OET. They understand the medical vocabulary, professional register and examiner expectations that matter.
Extensive bank of OET-style practice tests with model answers, examiner commentary and timing guidance — so test day holds no surprises.
Submit sample letters and receive structured feedback on format, register, accuracy and clinical language. Iterative improvement that targets the B grade you need.
Online sessions that fit around your work schedule. One-to-one or small group formats available depending on your budget and timeline.
Regular mock assessments throughout the programme so you can see improvement objectively and know when you are ready to sit the real test.
Free consultation
Book a free consultation and we will assess which sub-tests need the most work, recommend a study plan and explain exactly what the GPhC or GMC requires from your OET results.
