Our take

Is this the right course for you?

Bradford’s pitch is simple and strong: a long-established pharmacy school at close to the lowest price of any MPharm in England. International undergraduate fees run £16,100–£16,890 for 2026/27 — £4,000–£7,000 a year below southern competitors, which over a four-year clinical degree compounds into the price of a second master’s. The school has taught pharmacy for over fifty years, the degree is fully GPhC-accredited, and Bradford’s large South Asian community makes it one of the easiest UK cities to land in for students from Pakistan and India. Like every current MPharm, the course now trains under the GPhC’s 2021 standards — graduating cohorts register as independent prescribers. If total cost of qualification is your first filter, this page is where the comparison should start.

Why Bradford

What makes this course at Bradford different.

The price of qualification

Four years at Bradford’s fees can cost £20,000+ less than the same GPhC-accredited degree in the South — with an identical registration outcome.

Half a century of pharmacy

Bradford has trained pharmacists since the 1960s; the school’s alumni run pharmacies across Yorkshire and far beyond.

A city that feels familiar

One of the UK’s largest South Asian communities, low rents and a compact campus — the softest landing we know for first-time travellers from Pakistan and India.

Clinical progression on site

Bradford also runs the MSc Clinical Pharmacy and Healthcare Leadership (International) — a natural postgraduate step for pharmacists who stay.

What you study

Indicative course content.

  • Pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences
  • Clinical pharmacy and therapeutics
  • Consultation, prescribing and patient-safety skills (2021 standards)
  • Pharmacy law, ethics and NHS practice
  • Practice placements across hospital and community settings

Entry requirements

What you need to apply.

  • Chemistry plus a second science at A-level equivalent — Bradford accepts HSSC/FSc, CBSE/ISC and WAEC with published grade thresholds
  • Foundation-year route available if school results fall short of direct entry
  • English typically above the university’s general IELTS 6.0 — clinical courses commonly ask 6.5–7.0
  • Professional suitability, health and DBS checks as standard for pharmacy

English language

Bradford asks IELTS 6.0 as standard — clinical courses often ask more.

Bradford expects a formal English test from most international applicants. Bradford does not publish a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter route, so plan for a formal test. It does, however, accept strong school-level English for some markets: typically 70% in English within CBSE/CISCE Class XII for India, and WAEC/SSCE English Language at C6 or better for Nigeria. Pakistani applicants are usually asked for IELTS or an accepted alternative.

Also accepted: PTE Academic 62 (59 in each part), Duolingo English Test 110 (100 in each subscore), TOEFL iBT 80, Oxford ELLT 6 (5 in each sub-test), BASALT — Bradford’s own English test, 6.0 (5.5 in each sub-test). Pre-sessional English is available if you fall short.

Careers

Where this course takes you.

  • Foundation trainee pharmacist across Yorkshire’s NHS trusts and community chains
  • Community pharmacist — with day-one prescriber status under the 2021 standards
  • Hospital pharmacist (Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield teaching hospitals nearby)

  • Pharmaceutical industry and regulatory roles

Your country

Applying to Bradford from your country.

From Pakistan

Bradford publishes clear equivalencies for Pakistani qualifications: HSSC/Intermediate at 60% is treated as roughly 96–119 UCAS points, 65% as 120–135 and 70% as 136+, while for Master’s entry a CGPA of 2.5/4.0 is read as a UK 2:2 and 3.0 as a 2:1. Bachelor degrees of three years or less usually need two years of relevant work experience on top. Budget carefully for the deposit — applicants from Pakistan currently pay £10,000 (not the standard £5,000) before a CAS is issued. On the plus side, the Bestway Foundation funds five full Master’s scholarships worth around £35,000 each for Pakistan-domiciled STEM students, and the city’s long-established Pakistani community makes settling in unusually easy.

From India

Class XII (CBSE, CISCE and most state boards) at around 70–80% maps to roughly 96–136+ UCAS points for undergraduate entry, and a bachelor’s at 60% is typically read as a UK 2:2, with 65–70% needed for a 2:1 or first. Usefully, Bradford accepts 70% in English within CBSE/CISCE Class XII in place of IELTS. Two things to note: applicants to MSc International Business Management from Punjab and Haryana are currently asked to pay the full tuition fee in advance, and India’s CAS and deposit deadline for September 2026 is 21 August.

From Nigeria

WAEC/SSCE alone does not qualify for direct undergraduate entry — students typically join via the International Foundation Year at the University of Bradford International College. For Master’s, an honours degree assessed as a UK 2:2 or above is expected. Bradford accepts C6 or better in WAEC/SSCE English Language (and the NABTEB equivalent) instead of IELTS, which saves both money and time. The university also has an in-country representative and a wide agent network across Lagos, Abuja and other cities.

From the UAE

Holders of the UAE General Secondary Education Certificate usually need a foundation programme before starting a bachelor’s degree, while postgraduate applicants are assessed on the standard GPA scale (2.5/4.0 for a 2:2, 3.0 for a 2:1). Bradford runs a Regional Hub at Dubai Knowledge Park — home of its Executive MBA in Dubai — so you can get face-to-face advice without leaving the Emirates. UAE nationals currently sit in the £2,000 tier of the Global Scholar Award.

FAQ

MPharm (Hons) Pharmacy at Bradford — common questions.

Is Bradford’s MPharm really one of the cheapest in the UK?

Among GPhC-accredited MPharm providers in England, Bradford’s 2026/27 international band of £16,100–£16,890 per year is at the affordable extreme — many southern schools charge £20,000–£24,000 for the same accreditation and the same registration route. Over four years the difference funds a house deposit.

Is the degree quality comparable to more expensive schools?

The GPhC accredits every MPharm against the same standards, and every graduate sits the same registration assessment. Bradford has taught pharmacy for over fifty years; what you trade against a higher-ranked school is league-table position, not the qualification itself.

What happens after the four years?

The paid foundation training year, then the GPhC registration assessment. Bradford-trained cohorts under the 2021 standards register as independent prescribers. International graduates typically take foundation posts on the Graduate visa or with sponsorship — we plan that sequencing with you before you apply.

What entry grades do I need from Pakistan or India?

Chemistry plus a second science with strong marks — Bradford publishes thresholds for HSSC/FSc and CBSE/ISC, and runs a foundation year if you fall short. Send us your transcripts and we will confirm the exact route within days, free.

Fees, entry requirements, English-language policies and intake dates are correct to the best of our knowledge at the date shown, but universities review them every cycle and immigration rules change. Always treat figures as a guide — we confirm the exact, current requirements with the university before you apply. Facts on this page last checked July 2026.
