Our take
Brighton is the OSPAP choice for pharmacists who want to be near London without paying to live in it — the course runs on the south coast in one of the UK’s most distinctive cities, an hour from the capital by train. The school of pharmacy is well established (Brighton also runs a GPhC-accredited MPharm), and the OSPAP fee of £15,960 for 2026/27 sits in the middle of the four providers. One honest caveat from our experience: Brighton’s living costs are the highest of the four OSPAP cities, which narrows the headline saving against Aston. Where Brighton clearly wins is for applicants who plan to build their foundation year and career in London and the South East — the region’s community pharmacy and NHS demand is on your doorstep. English language
Brighton can consider Medium of Instruction (MOI) evidence for some courses — though clinical and regulated programmes usually still require a formal test. Brighton publishes that it accepts MOI letters from certain institutions in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh — the accepted list is held by the admissions team, so we check your university before you book a test. School-level English also counts in some markets: CBSE/CISCE Standard XII English at 65% or above is accepted from India, and WAEC English at grades A1–C6 from Nigeria. Pakistani and Emirati school English qualifications are not accepted, so most applicants from those markets sit IELTS or an approved alternative.
Also accepted: PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, Duolingo English Test, Oxford ELLT, Trinity ISE, LanguageCert Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency, WAEC English A1–C6 (Nigeria), CBSE/CISCE Standard XII English 65%+ (India). Pre-sessional English is available if you fall short.

HSSC (Standard XII) holders typically complete an international foundation year before the bachelor’s degree; a two-year BA/BSc or Associate Degree can also be considered for undergraduate entry. For master’s courses Brighton asks for a four-year bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.5 or around 55%, subject to assessment. Pakistani school English qualifications are not accepted, but Brighton does consider MOI letters from certain Pakistani institutions — ask us to check yours before booking IELTS.

Master’s applicants typically need a three-year bachelor’s degree from a recognised university at 55% or above. Helpfully, WAEC English at grades A1–C6 is accepted in place of IELTS, which saves most Nigerian applicants a test fee.

Master’s applicants from recognised Emirati universities typically need a GPA of 2.5/4.0 (C+ or roughly 75–79%). Emirati school English qualifications are not accepted, so plan for IELTS or PTE Academic; Indian-curriculum students in the UAE with CBSE/CISCE Standard XII English at 65% can usually use that instead.

£15,960 for 2026/27 — and Brighton is the only provider charging UK and international students the same fee. Factor in living costs though: Brighton rents are the highest of the four OSPAP cities, which is why total cost of attendance can end up closer to Aston than the tuition gap suggests.

The GPhC standard applies: IELTS 7.0 overall with no component below 6.5, or an accepted equivalent. This is set by the regulator, not the university, so it is identical at all four OSPAP providers.
Choose Brighton if you want to build your UK career in London and the South East — placements and first jobs cluster near where you train. Choose Hertfordshire for the lowest fee, Aston for the big-city pharmacy school, Sunderland for the lowest living costs. The GPhC route afterwards is identical everywhere.
