Hertfordshire is the value pick among the four OSPAP providers — its 2025/26 fee of around £14,250 was the lowest in the UK, and even the higher figure now showing in course-listing feeds for 2026 entry would keep it below Brighton and Aston — and it is the only one to publish a three-day teaching week, which our clients with families consistently rank as the most underrated feature of any OSPAP. Two structured weekdays free means real part-time work (permitted on a Student visa) or childcare cover without missing classes. The campus sits in Hatfield, 25 minutes by train from London King’s Cross, so you get South East job-market access at commuter-town living costs. The pharmacy school is substantial in its own right — Hertfordshire also runs a GPhC-accredited MPharm — and the OSPAP is accredited through 2027/28. As everywhere, September 2026 is closed; plan for September 2027.

Hertfordshire has undercut the other three providers every recent year — and if two would suit you equally, that saving against Brighton and Aston is roughly a term’s rent.
The timetable concentrates contact time into three days — the most family- and work-friendly structure of the four OSPAPs.
Hatfield is 25 minutes from King’s Cross: foundation placements and locum work across London and the Home Counties are all within reach.
OSPAP runs inside a school that also delivers the GPhC-accredited MPharm, with dedicated clinical skills and dispensing facilities.

English language
Herts can consider Medium of Instruction (MOI) evidence for some courses — though clinical and regulated programmes usually still require a formal test. Herts does consider Medium of Instruction evidence, but selectively. Its on-campus pathway college (HIC) formally accepts MOI letters from a list of recognised Indian universities for Pre-Master's entry, and the university currently considers English-medium degrees from recognised institutions for many direct-entry masters — mainly for Indian applicants, with some regions excluded. Nigerian applicants are typically assessed on WAEC/NECO English (usually C6 or better) instead. Pakistani applicants should normally plan for IELTS or an accepted alternative. We confirm the current MOI position for your profile before you apply.
Also accepted: PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, LanguageCert Academic, India Standard XII English (typically 65–75% depending on level), WAEC/NECO English, typically C6 or better (Nigeria). Pre-sessional English is available if you fall short.

For undergraduate entry, HSSC with typically 60%+ is expected for direct year-1 entry on most courses (some ask more, and a foundation year via HIC covers lower profiles). For masters, a recognised bachelor's degree with around 55% or CGPA 2.5/4.0 is the usual benchmark; two-year degrees generally need a further qualification. Herts has a regional office presence in Pakistan and works with approved counsellors, so offers tend to move quickly. Plan for IELTS UKVI or an accepted alternative — MOI letters from Pakistani universities are not usually sufficient on their own.

English is more flexible than at many universities: a strong Standard XII English score (typically 65–75%) can satisfy the requirement, and MOI from recognised English-medium universities is currently considered for many masters, with some regional exclusions. HIC also formally accepts MOI from a published list of Indian universities for Pre-Master's entry.

WAEC/NECO English at typically C6 or better is usually accepted in place of IELTS, which keeps costs down. Hertfordshire has a large, well-established Nigerian community, and the Master of Public Health is consistently one of the most popular choices — worth applying early, as September places fill fast.

Teaching runs September to June over three days a week — unique among the four providers. Students use the free weekdays for the part-time work allowed on a Student visa, family commitments, or self-study; it is the structure we most often recommend to applicants relocating with children.
Registration as a pharmacist in your home country, GPhC eligibility confirmation (obtained before you apply to the university), and the GPhC English standard — IELTS Academic 7.0 in each of the four skills in one sitting, or OET (Pharmacy) grade B in all four.
Now, for September 2027 — September 2026 is closed at all four providers. GPhC eligibility alone can take several months, and Hertfordshire’s low fee makes it one of the first cohorts to fill.
A paid foundation training year, then the GPhC registration assessment, then registration as a pharmacist. From there most of our clients add the independent prescribing annotation within 18 months — from 2026 it is the qualification that separates candidates in the job market.
