University of Greenwich • London
Data science at a London campus with Canary Wharf a DLR ride away — capital-market access at a band that stays under £21,500.
Our take
Greenwich puts data science physically inside the London market at a band capped at £21,375 — the same value proposition as its business portfolio, applied to the field where capital presence pays fastest. Canary Wharf’s banks and fintechs run some of Europe’s largest data teams a DLR ride from campus, and the spring internship-and-interview season rewards students who can attend everything. Numerate graduates from any field qualify, January and September cohorts both run, and the £3,000 deposit keeps commitment mechanics light. The honest framing: this is London access and cost-efficiency, and in data hiring — where portfolio beats prestige — that is precisely the right optimisation.

Entry requirements
English language
Greenwich expects a formal English test from most international applicants. Greenwich does not list Medium of Instruction (MOI) letters among its accepted English evidence — but it publishes generous school-level waivers instead. Indian students with 65% in Standard XII English are exempt from IELTS (not applicable to Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh or Uttarakhand boards), and Nigerian students with WAEC/NECO SSCE English at C6 or above are also exempt. A full bachelor's or master's degree completed in a majority English-speaking country waives the requirement too. Pakistani and UAE applicants should plan for an approved test.
Also accepted: PTE Academic (scores mapped band-for-band, from 51 for IELTS 5.5 equivalent), Duolingo English Test 95–130 depending on course level, Oxford ELLT 6–7, Indian Standard XII English 65% (most boards), Nigerian WAEC/NECO English C6 or above. Pre-sessional English is available if you fall short.

Your country
Greenwich publishes Pakistan-specific requirements: FA/FSc/ICom/HSSC with a minimum of around 70% for undergraduate entry, and for taught master's a four-year bachelor's degree with at least 60%, or a two- to three-year degree plus a master's at 55–65% depending on the course. No HSSC English waiver is published, so plan for IELTS 6.5 (5.5 per skill) or an accepted alternative — and note that Pakistani applicants are currently asked to pay 100% of first-year tuition before a CAS is issued, so financial planning matters more here than at most universities.
Full guide for PakistanFor undergraduate entry Greenwich typically asks for Standard XII with a minimum of 65%, obtained within the last two years; taught master's usually require a bachelor's degree with 55% in the final year, reduced to 50% for graduates of Mumbai, Pune, Calcutta, Delhi, Bangalore and Madras universities. Students with 65% in Standard XII English are exempt from IELTS (except Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand boards). Applicants from India currently pay around 50% of first-year fees before CAS — 100% for Punjab and Haryana — so apply early.
Full guide for IndiaGreenwich is one of the most popular London universities with Nigerian students, and it shows in the support: WAEC/NECO SSCE English at C6 or above exempts you from IELTS, there is an in-country representative, and taught master's typically require a four-year bachelor's degree at Second Class Lower (2.2) or above. Undergraduate applicants usually enter via A Levels, IB or a foundation year through Greenwich's international college. Applicants from much of Sub-Saharan Africa are currently asked for around 50% of first-year fees before a CAS, so budget for a larger upfront payment.
Full guide for NigeriaStudents applying from UAE schools with A Levels, IB or Indian/Pakistani board qualifications are assessed against those curricula; holders of the UAE national secondary certificate (Tawjihiyya) typically need a foundation year through the university's international college first. For taught master's, Greenwich asks for a bachelor's degree with a GPA of around 2.8/4.0 or 70% for 2:2-equivalent entry. UAE nationals currently pay only the standard £3,000 deposit before CAS, and both the September and January intakes work well from the Gulf.

Fees sit in the £18,700–£21,375 band for 2026/27 — among the lowest for data science physically in London — with the £3,000 deposit deducted from tuition. Greenwich-area rents run below central zones but budget London honestly.
Because banking and fintech run Europe’s biggest data teams there, minutes from campus. Spring internships, meetups and interviews reward physical presence — Greenwich students attend more of the process and convert more of it.
No — numerate graduates from engineering, maths, economics and the sciences qualify; the programming stack is taught from foundations.
Both run. A January start positions you in London exactly as the spring hiring season opens — an underrated timing play we use deliberately with data clients.
Fees, entry requirements, English-language policies and intake dates are correct to the best of our knowledge at the date shown, but universities review them every cycle and immigration rules change.
