Coventry, West Midlands • United Kingdom
One of the UK's biggest recruiters of international students — a modern city-centre campus in the West Midlands with strong nursing, health, engineering and business courses, up to six start dates a year and a London campus option.
Our take
Coventry is consistently among the UK's top recruiters of international students, and it shows: a genuinely global city-centre campus, an admissions operation used to files from India, Nigeria and the Gulf, and up to six start dates a year on many courses — useful if you miss September. Fees are mid-table for England (most degrees are £17,600 for 2026/27) and living costs are far below London, with Birmingham around 20 minutes away by train. Academically, health is the standout: Coventry is one of the country's biggest nursing providers, with NMC-approved BSc and pre-registration MSc routes, plus well-regarded public health, engineering, business and law courses. CU London, its Canary Wharf-area campus, suits students who want the capital at fees below most London universities. Two cautions from our casework: applicants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and parts of north India are currently asked to pay the full first-year fee before a CAS is issued, and Coventry has paused new recruitment from Pakistan as at July 2026 — talk to us before shortlisting it.

Nursing and other placement-heavy health courses are typically around £18,000-£18,600, and a sandwich placement year adds around £1,800 for international students. Most MSc and LLM courses at the Coventry campus are currently £18,600 per year; the Global Business MBA is around £21,300. CU London master's fees are higher — typically around £20,000-£22,550. Always confirm the 2026/27 figure on your course page. Coventry bands its CAS deposit by region: currently £4,000 for the EU and Sub-Saharan and Northern Africa (including Nigeria) and £8,000 for most other countries (including the UAE). Applicants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Indian states of Punjab, Uttarakhand and Haryana are asked to pay the full first-year tuition fee before a CAS is issued. English language
Coventry can consider a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter in place of IELTS for some applicants. Coventry's central pages publish CEFR levels (B2 for degree study) rather than a blanket MOI policy, but its regional admissions teams do consider English-medium study as evidence case by case — typically for postgraduate applicants whose bachelor's degree was taught wholly in English and awarded within roughly the last two years. Applicants from the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand are generally asked for a test regardless. Treat MOI as a possibility to be confirmed for your profile, not a guarantee — we pre-check this with the university before you apply.
Also accepted: Standard XII English at 60% (UG) or 65% (PG) from approved Indian boards, WAEC/SSCE English at grade C or above for Nigerian applicants, Other reputable English tests (e.g. PTE Academic) considered case by case. Pre-sessional English courses are available if you fall short.
Intakes
September remains the largest intake, but many Coventry and CU London courses now run up to six start dates across the 2026/27 year — September, November, January, March, May and July. Clinical courses are more restricted: BSc Adult Nursing, for example, offers September 2026 and January 2027 starts only. Check your specific course page before planning around a date.

Entry requirements
Important: Coventry's own regional entry requirements page lists recruitment from Pakistan as currently paused (checked July 2026), and applicants from Pakistan have in any case been asked to pay the full first-year tuition fee before a CAS rather than a standard deposit. Recruitment pauses are reviewed each cycle, so the position can change between intakes — contact us at /contact/ for the current status, and we can shortlist comparable universities in the meantime (several on /universities/ actively recruit from Pakistan with lower deposits).
Full guide for PakistanCoventry publishes detailed India requirements: typically 60% in Standard XII for undergraduate business courses (65% in maths and a relevant science for core engineering), and for master's entry 60% in a three-year degree or 55% in a four-year degree — with 55% accepted for three-year degrees from select universities. Standard XII English at 60% (UG) or 65% (PG) from approved boards, including CBSE and several state boards, is accepted instead of IELTS. Note that applicants from Punjab, Uttarakhand and Haryana are currently asked to pay the full first-year fee before a CAS is issued.
Full guide for IndiaUndergraduate applicants typically need WAEC/SSCE with grades A-B in five subjects including maths, with English at minimum grade C accepted as English evidence; an OND or a recognised diploma can also be considered. For master's entry Coventry usually asks for a bachelor's degree at 2:2 or 55% and above. Nigeria falls in Coventry's lower £4,000 deposit band — one of the reasons it is consistently popular with Nigerian students — and the £2,000-per-year Group Scholarship applies to self-funded offer-holders.
Full guide for NigeriaCoventry does not publish a separate UAE requirements page, so entry is assessed on your qualification: students with the UAE secondary school certificate typically route through a foundation year, while A Levels, IB or strong CBSE/FBISE grades from UAE schools are considered for direct undergraduate entry. Master's applicants usually need a recognised bachelor's degree at around 2:2 equivalent. The standard deposit for UAE-based applicants is currently £8,000, and the multiple start dates suit working professionals who cannot wait for September.

If you already hold a nursing qualification, NMC registration (CBT + OSCE) may be faster and cheaper than a second degree — and leads straight to UK employment.

Coventry is ranked 57th in the Complete University Guide 2027 — 12th among modern universities — and sits in the top 200 of the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026 (193rd). It holds TEF Gold (2023) for teaching, and several subjects rank far higher than the overall table, including 1st for Radiography (Times 2026) and 3rd for Mental Health Nursing (Guardian 2026).
Most bachelor degrees are £17,600 per year for 2026/27, with placement-heavy health courses slightly higher. Most MSc and LLM courses are currently £18,600, the Global Business MBA is around £21,300, and CU London master's courses typically cost £20,000-£22,550. Self-funded students can usually deduct the £2,000-per-year Group Scholarship from these figures.
It depends on where you are applying from. The deposit is currently £4,000 for the EU and Sub-Saharan and Northern Africa (including Nigeria) and £8,000 for most other countries, including the UAE. Applicants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Indian states of Punjab, Uttarakhand and Haryana are asked to pay the full first-year tuition fee before a CAS is issued.
Sometimes, but not as a blanket policy. Coventry's regional teams consider English-medium degrees case by case — typically for postgraduate applicants whose degree was taught wholly in English and awarded within about the last two years — and school-level English such as WAEC grade C or approved Standard XII boards is accepted for many applicants. Most courses otherwise ask for IELTS 6.0-6.5 with no band below 5.5, and a pre-sessional English route is available. We confirm your exact position with the university before you rely on an MOI letter.
Yes — and more besides. Many Coventry and CU London courses run up to six start dates across the 2026/27 year: September, November, January, March, May and July. Clinical courses are more limited, with BSc Adult Nursing offering September and January starts only, so check your course page before planning your application timeline.
The headline award is the Coventry University Group Scholarship: £2,000 off tuition per year for self-funded international students starting in any 2026/27 intake, worth £6,000 across a three-year bachelor's. Coventry graduates get a 25% alumni discount on postgraduate fees, and sports scholarships of £1,500 or £3,000 a year support around 40-45 competing athletes.
As at July 2026, Coventry's regional entry requirements page lists recruitment from Pakistan as paused, so new applications from Pakistan are not being taken in the current cycle. These pauses are reviewed regularly and can be lifted between intakes. If you are applying from Pakistan, contact us via /contact/ — we track the status and can recommend comparable universities that are actively recruiting.
Yes, particularly on budget. Coventry is a compact, walkable city where rent and living costs sit well below London, and Birmingham is around 20 minutes away by train with London about an hour. The university's scale as a top recruiter of international students means large, established communities from India, Nigeria and the Gulf, plus support services built around international arrivals.
Fees, entry requirements, English-language policies and intake dates are correct to the best of our knowledge at the date shown, but universities review them every cycle and immigration rules change. Always treat figures as a guide — we confirm the exact, current requirements with the university before you apply.
