Our take

Is this the right course for you?

Bradford’s computing master’s carries the specialism every 2026 tech CV wants — artificial intelligence — at the lowest fee band of any computing course on our list, opening at £15,700. The “Applied” in the name is the design philosophy: machine learning, AI tooling and software engineering taught for deployment rather than theory, producing project evidence in the field employers are actively rebuilding teams around. Bradford’s established computing department, the city’s low costs and its familiar communities for South Asian students complete the case. January and September intakes both run; the course expects programming competence at entry, with strong numerate converts considered.

TuitionWithin Bradford’s 2026/27 international postgraduate band of £15,700–£19,500 — the lowest computing entry point on our list. Exact fee confirmed in your offer; the £5,000 deposit is deducted.

Where this leads: A master’s-level technology qualification — no professional registration involved. Software and AI roles rank among the UK’s most Skilled-Worker-sponsored occupations.

Both intakes run for the computing portfolio.

Why Bradford

What makes this course at Bradford different.

AI at the price floor

The specialism with 2026’s strongest hiring momentum, at England’s budget computing band — a combination competitors do not offer.

Applied by design

Deployment-focused machine learning and software work produces the portfolio evidence AI-adjacent hiring screens for.

A city that costs less

Bradford’s rents rank among England’s lowest, and Leeds’ digital cluster is twenty minutes away for the job hunt.

The familiar-landing factor

Large established South Asian communities make Bradford one of the easiest UK arrivals for students from Pakistan and India.

What you study

Indicative course content.

  • Machine learning and neural networks
  • AI applications and intelligent systems
  • Advanced programming and software engineering
  • Data engineering for AI pipelines
  • An applied AI master’s project

Entry requirements

What you need to apply.

  • A 2:2-equivalent degree in computing or a strongly numerate field
  • Programming competence expected at entry; strong converts considered
  • IELTS around 6.0 or an accepted equivalent
  • Standard funds evidence alongside the £5,000 deposit

English language

Bradford asks IELTS 6.0 as standard — clinical courses often ask more.

Bradford expects a formal English test from most international applicants. Bradford does not publish a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter route, so plan for a formal test. It does, however, accept strong school-level English for some markets: typically 70% in English within CBSE/CISCE Class XII for India, and WAEC/SSCE English Language at C6 or better for Nigeria. Pakistani applicants are usually asked for IELTS or an accepted alternative.

Also accepted: PTE Academic 62 (59 in each part), Duolingo English Test 110 (100 in each subscore), TOEFL iBT 80, Oxford ELLT 6 (5 in each sub-test), BASALT — Bradford’s own English test, 6.0 (5.5 in each sub-test). Pre-sessional English is available if you fall short.

Careers

Where this course takes you.

  • Machine learning and AI engineering roles UK-wide
  • Software engineering with an AI portfolio differentiator
  • Leeds’ digital and fintech cluster twenty minutes away
  • Data engineering and MLOps entry routes
  • Graduate visa, then Skilled Worker sponsorship — tech sponsors heavily

Your country

Applying to Bradford from your country.

From Pakistan

Bradford publishes clear equivalencies for Pakistani qualifications: HSSC/Intermediate at 60% is treated as roughly 96–119 UCAS points, 65% as 120–135 and 70% as 136+, while for Master’s entry a CGPA of 2.5/4.0 is read as a UK 2:2 and 3.0 as a 2:1. Bachelor degrees of three years or less usually need two years of relevant work experience on top. Budget carefully for the deposit — applicants from Pakistan currently pay £10,000 (not the standard £5,000) before a CAS is issued. On the plus side, the Bestway Foundation funds five full Master’s scholarships worth around £35,000 each for Pakistan-domiciled STEM students, and the city’s long-established Pakistani community makes settling in unusually easy.

From India

Class XII (CBSE, CISCE and most state boards) at around 70–80% maps to roughly 96–136+ UCAS points for undergraduate entry, and a bachelor’s at 60% is typically read as a UK 2:2, with 65–70% needed for a 2:1 or first. Usefully, Bradford accepts 70% in English within CBSE/CISCE Class XII in place of IELTS. Two things to note: applicants to MSc International Business Management from Punjab and Haryana are currently asked to pay the full tuition fee in advance, and India’s CAS and deposit deadline for September 2026 is 21 August.

From Nigeria

WAEC/SSCE alone does not qualify for direct undergraduate entry — students typically join via the International Foundation Year at the University of Bradford International College. For Master’s, an honours degree assessed as a UK 2:2 or above is expected. Bradford accepts C6 or better in WAEC/SSCE English Language (and the NABTEB equivalent) instead of IELTS, which saves both money and time. The university also has an in-country representative and a wide agent network across Lagos, Abuja and other cities.

From the UAE

Holders of the UAE General Secondary Education Certificate usually need a foundation programme before starting a bachelor’s degree, while postgraduate applicants are assessed on the standard GPA scale (2.5/4.0 for a 2:2, 3.0 for a 2:1). Bradford runs a Regional Hub at Dubai Knowledge Park — home of its Executive MBA in Dubai — so you can get face-to-face advice without leaving the Emirates. UAE nationals currently sit in the £2,000 tier of the Global Scholar Award.

FAQ

MSc Applied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at Bradford — common questions.

Is a budget AI master’s taken seriously by employers?

What AI hiring screens is evidence: projects, deployed models, GitHub. Bradford’s applied curriculum is built to produce exactly that, and the credential comes from an established computing department. In this field your portfolio outranks your campus brand — which makes the £15,700 entry point a strategy, not a compromise.

What background do I need?

Programming competence and a 2:2-equivalent in computing or a strongly numerate field. Complete beginners fit a conversion course better; strong maths or engineering graduates who code convert well here.

What does the year cost?

Fees from £15,700 in the 2026/27 band plus Bradford living costs among England’s lowest — the cheapest AI-focused master’s year we know of at an established university.

Where are the AI jobs afterwards?

Leeds’ digital cluster is the nearest market, with Manchester and London reachable on the national Graduate visa. AI and software occupations sponsor heavily for Skilled Worker conversion — the strongest post-study pathway of any master’s family we advise on.

Fees, entry requirements, English-language policies and intake dates are correct to the best of our knowledge at the date shown, but universities review them every cycle and immigration rules change. Always treat figures as a guide — we confirm the exact, current requirements with the university before you apply. Facts on this page last checked July 2026.
