University of Huddersfield • Huddersfield
A two-year, NMC-approved adult nursing master’s in West Yorkshire — graduate entry to the UK register between the Leeds and Manchester job markets.
Our take
Huddersfield’s pre-registration MSc offers the same destination as every NMC-approved graduate programme — the UK nursing register in two years — at a total cost few can match, because Yorkshire rent does not compete with your tuition. Fees sit in the £18,700–£21,000 postgraduate band for 2026/27. The placement geography is the underrated asset: West Yorkshire’s trusts train you, while Leeds and Manchester — two of the NHS’s largest employment markets — both sit within commuting range when you qualify. Huddersfield’s health faculty also runs pre-registration nursing at BSc level and a suite of public-health master’s, so the clinical teaching infrastructure is substantial.

Entry requirements
English language
Huddersfield expects a formal English test from most international applicants. Huddersfield states it will not normally waive the English requirement for students who completed a programme taught in English in their home country — so a Medium of Instruction letter is not accepted in place of a test. Budget for IELTS, PTE or an accepted alternative from the outset; health courses usually need higher bands (nursing typically IELTS 7.0).
Also accepted: PTE Academic 59 overall (minimum 59 in each component), TOEFL iBT 87 overall, Cambridge C1 Advanced grade C, Trinity ISE II (B2) and LanguageCert International ESOL. Pre-sessional English is available if you fall short.
Careers
Your country
Huddersfield has a recruitment office in Pakistan and considers HSSC applicants for undergraduate entry typically at around 60% overall; students below that can route through the International Study Centre foundation. For master's entry, both 2-year and 3-year Pakistani bachelor degrees are considered — typically at around 55-60% — which is more flexible than universities that insist on 16 years of education. MOI letters are not accepted, so sit IELTS (6.0 overall, 5.5 per band for most courses) or PTE early.
Full guide for PakistanIndian applicants are typically considered with Standard XII at around 60-65% for direct undergraduate entry, and a bachelor degree at around 55-60% (second class) for most taught master's courses — requirements vary by course and board, so ask us to pre-check your transcripts. India is on the GREAT Scholarships list, worth £10,000 towards a one-year master's, alongside the university's automatic merit scholarship. An MOI letter will not replace an English test here.
Full guide for IndiaHuddersfield's published Nigeria guidance references WAEC/NECO at grade C6 or above, and the university has an in-country recruitment presence. For master's entry a good bachelor degree (typically second class) from a recognised Nigerian university is usually required. Nigeria is a GREAT Scholarships country for 2026/27. English evidence is assessed case by case — do not rely on an MOI letter, as Huddersfield does not normally waive the English requirement.
Full guide for NigeriaApplicants from UAE curriculum schools typically need a foundation year (available via the International Study Centre) before undergraduate entry, while students with A Levels, IB or strong CBSE grades from UAE schools can be considered for direct entry. For master's courses a recognised bachelor degree at a good standard is usually required. Many UAE-based applicants are working professionals — the January and May intakes in business and computing are useful if you miss September.

FAQ
Yes — it is an NMC-approved pre-registration programme. Graduates are eligible to join the NMC register as adult nurses through the UK-trained route, with no CBT or OSCE.
Tuition sits in the £18,700–£21,000 band for 2026/27, and Huddersfield’s living costs are among England’s lowest — most students budget £700–£900 a month. The two-year total typically undercuts London equivalents by £15,000 or more.
West Yorkshire trusts recruit from their own placement students first, and Leeds and Manchester both sit in commuting range — two of the largest NHS labour markets in the country. That geographic spread matters in 2026’s more competitive Band 5 market.
