Huddersfield is one of the more affordable ways to study in England without compromising on course quality. The town sits in West Yorkshire between Leeds and Manchester — both under 40 minutes by train — yet rent and day-to-day costs are noticeably lower than in either city, which matters when you are budgeting for a Student visa. The university itself is a single town-centre campus with a genuinely mixed international community and in-country recruitment offices in Pakistan, India and Nigeria, so applications from our core markets are well understood. Academically, the strongest reasons to choose Huddersfield are its GPhC-accredited MPharm, NMC-approved pre-registration nursing at both BSc and MSc level, a full Master of Public Health suite, and a broad business and computing portfolio with January and May start dates. Be aware of one thing: Huddersfield does not accept Medium of Instruction letters, so plan for IELTS or an equivalent test from the start. Fees are mid-table, and most self-funded offer-holders are automatically considered for a merit scholarship.

Most BA/BSc/BEng/LLB courses are £17,600 for 2026/27; allied health courses are £18,700 and nursing £19,800 (including NHS placement costs). Most MA/MSc courses are £18,700 for 2026/27; the MBA is £19,690, professional-practice and PGCE routes £19,800, and pharmacy with placement up to £21,000. Huddersfield does not publish one fixed deposit — the amount you must pay before your CAS is issued is set out on your conditional offer letter. Card payment is the quickest way to clear the deposit condition, and a CAS can be issued up to six months before your course starts.

English language
Huddersfield currently expects a formal English test from most international applicants. Huddersfield states it will not normally waive the English requirement for students who completed a programme taught in English in their home country — so a Medium of Instruction letter is not accepted in place of a test. Budget for IELTS, PTE or an accepted alternative from the outset; health courses usually need higher bands (nursing typically IELTS 7.0).
Also accepted: PTE Academic 59 overall (minimum 59 in each component), TOEFL iBT 87 overall, Cambridge C1 Advanced grade C, Trinity ISE II (B2) and LanguageCert International ESOL. Pre-sessional English courses are available if you fall short.

September is the main intake across the full course portfolio. January and May intakes run for a selection of courses, mainly in business, management and computing. The 2026/27 cycle covers September 2026, January 2027 and May 2027 starts.

Huddersfield has a recruitment office in Pakistan and considers HSSC applicants for undergraduate entry typically at around 60% overall; students below that can route through the International Study Centre foundation. For master's entry, both 2-year and 3-year Pakistani bachelor degrees are considered — typically at around 55-60% — which is more flexible than universities that insist on 16 years of education. MOI letters are not accepted, so sit IELTS (6.0 overall, 5.5 per band for most courses) or PTE early.

Huddersfield does not publish a single fixed deposit — the amount you must pay is stated on your conditional offer letter. Once you accept your offer and meet all conditions, the university sends a CAS-check email and then issues your CAS, which can happen up to six months before your course starts.
